Samuel Kalalei Gets Gold as Kenyan Athletes Dominate Athens Marathon

Kenyan runners dominated the authentic Marathon race in Athens on Sunday.

Samuel Kalalei won the Gold medal with a time of 02:12:17. In second place was his compatriot Lucas Rotich and third was Marc Kiptoi, also a Kenyan.

The first Greek athlete to cross the finishing line was Konstantinos Gkelaouzos, with a time of 02:27:21.

Thousands of people lined up on the streets to watch the race as 18,500 runners from around the world followed the footsteps of the legendary soldier Pheidippides on the historic and tough 42km course.
