Members of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter Cyprus have uncovered a huge bird trapping site with 274 limesticks in the Famagusta district, the NGO said in a post on Twitter and Facebook.
It said that game wardens were called in and caught the poacher who was fined €2,400.

Although trapping levels have generally declined in recent years, activists say that organised and large-scale trapping continue to slip through the hands of the authorities. BirdLife Cyprus and CABS are continuing to push the authorities for action.
