A young Scottish woman came to Paphos for a vacation with her friend, a holiday which came to an end last night, after she miscarried, alone in her holiday flat. According to investigations carried out by Paphos police and hospital authorities, the 23-year-old was several months pregnant and under circumstances that are subject to forensic examinations, she miscarried her place of residence, alone and without any help.
The incident took place in a tourist apartment complex in Chlorakas where the 23-year-old and her friend had been staying for the last few days. Yesterday afternoon, a housewife who allegedly heard strange noises coming from the apartment called the police, who, along with an ambulance and nursing staff, made their way to the location in question.
After entering the apartment, the police found the 23-year-old in a poor state, with a dead fetus lying next to her. From first examinations, it appears that the 23-year-old miscarried a dead fetus, and confessed to the nurses that she was not aware she was pregnant. A forensic examiner performed an autopsy at the scene last night and handed in his report to the police.
The young woman was taken to the Paphos General Hospital where she is being treated, while further examinations are expected to be carried out today. =
