President given honourary degree by Aristotle University

President Nicos Anastasiades received an honorary doctorate degree in law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on Thursday evening.

“According to the unanimous decision of the school, the honorary award is made at a critical juncture in the recent history of his home country and for his generous contributions, especially in the field of relations of the Republic of Cyprus with other countries, with a view to resolving the Cyprus issue through negotiation, the consolidation of peace in the Eastern Mediterranean and ensuring the welfare of residents in the whole of Cyprus,” Dean of the law school of the university Professor Elisavet Symeonidou-Kastanidou explained.

Professor of diplomatic history Ioannis Stefanides and Professor of European Union law Petros Stangos also praised the president.

During the evening the Giannis Mandakas choir of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki performed.

The event was attended by first Lady Andri Anastasiades, government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou, the Ambassador of Cyprus to Greece Kyriakos Kenevezos and Consul General of Cyprus in Thessaloniki Spyros Miltiades.
