Police announced on Wednesday they are looking for the same people in connection with two recent robberies of food delivery men in Limassol.
Food delivery outlets have meanwhile been informed to take appropriate security measures.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 24-year-old delivery worker was attacked by two persons with covered faces.
After drawing a knife, the assailants threw the 24-year-old to the ground and stole his bag containing €330 in restaurant takings.
A similar case occurred last Friday, when a 27-year-old delivery man was attacked in Neapolis, Limassol by three men who stole the pizzas he was delivering valued at €20 as well as a sum of €318 in restaurant revenues.
According to the head of Limassol’s crime prevention unit, Ioannis Soteriades, both cases are believed to have been conducted by the same persons.
In both cases, a delivery order was made to the restaurants using a pay-as-you-go phone, and then the culprits would wait for the delivery man at the specified location where they would then attack and rob him.
For increased security, Soteriades suggested that restaurant employees should confirm the details of the persons calling for deliveries for the first time and who are not registered in the database of the restaurant’s system.
Delivery men should also refrain from carrying large sums of money, Soteriades said, and in case of attack, they should not respond in a life-threatening way.
Any suspect calls for food orders should also be immediately reported to the police, Soteriades added.
