A 33-year-old-man will remain in custody until his trial on weapon charges on July 30, the Paphos district court ruled on Friday.
The suspect faces a total of 10 charges, the more serious ones being the illegal possession of weapons and explosives which carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
Police arrested the man on June 20 in Paphos after a number of searches were carried out in three residences in Paphos and the suspect’s car, during which two guns, a number of cartridges, a knife, a precision scale, a bag containing 1,030 grammes of explosives, two sledgehammers and other items were found.
He did not give satisfactory explanations for being in possession of the objects and was detained.
