Tsipras Dons Tie, Then Removes it in Symbolic Gesture on Greek Debt Deal

Greece’s prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, celebrated the conclusion of a deal with Eurozone ministers on debt relief by addressing his cabinet officials wearing a necktie in public for the first time.

In an event broadcast live on Greek public TV, Tsipras said Thursday’s agreement marks the “end of the memorandum era”.

Closing his triumphant speech where he ticked off a litany of accomplishments he said his government had achieved since January 2015, Tsipras again took off the tie.

He said that more needs to be done to make Greece prosper and therefore he must be battle-ready.

This is a developing story.
