Police warn of spoof emails

Share this:

Police are warning the public against spoof emails which may contain viruses as there has been a spike in the number of reports of such cases.

In an announcement on Friday, police said the emails are usually written in English and may involve a scam of sorts or include an attachment which could contain a virus.

Spoof emails may request personal information or payment.

Members of the public are urged not to open such emails and delete them immediately.

If the contents appear to be from a company familiar to the person or business which received the email, police suggested contacting the company to confirm if they were the true senders of the email if the contents seem suspicious or unusual.
