Paphos police arrested a 26-year-old man on Wednesday after a hooded individual threatened a kiosk owner with a knife and injured her.
The man, whose face was covered, entered the kiosk at around 1.30am on Wednesday and demanded money from the 56-year-old kiosk owner at knifepoint, threatening to kill her.
When she tried to defend herself the man slightly injured her hand before fleeing on foot.
Police officers who searched the area spotted a 26-year-old man nearby who allegedly admitted committing the offence.
He pointed the officers to a field in the area where the clothes he had been wearing, a hood, gloves and a knife were found.
The suspect told police he is a compulsive gambler.
