The immediate mobilisation of aircraft and fire trucks prevented a fire which broke out in Sykopetra, Limassol at noon from spreading far, and the fire was under control by 2.10pm, the fire service said.
According to fire services spokesman Andreas Kettis, four fire trucks and four vehicles of the forestry department were used to battle the blaze.
Even though five aircraft were ready to be deployed, only two had to be used to throw water on the fire.
The fire burnt three decares of fruit trees, wild vegetation and dry grass.
Fire trucks remain in the area to completely extinguish the blaze.
