Two third-country nationals were deported on the instructions of the Attorney-General Costas Clerides on Friday, both of whom had been accused of stealing.

A 23-year-old domestic worker who was suspected of stealing from her employer and arrested is being deported to India, her country of origin, after appearing before Paphos district court on Friday.

Police arrested the young woman on Monday to help with investigations.

A home owner from Konia, 63, who was the employer of the suspect, reported to police that the assistant left her home taking clothes worth €3,000, a diamond ring worth €5,000, and a pair of earrings valued at 500 pounds sterling.

The young woman denies stealing the objects.

The second person expelled is a 31-year-old Jordanian who was arrested on June 25 when he presented a fake Jordanian identity at Paphos airport.

He was suspected to have been involved in a burglary during which €43,000 worth of jewellery was stolen in Kato Paphos in 2013.

His case was heard in the Paphos court on Friday.

At the hearing, the attorney-general decided to deport him to Jordan as no evidence was found that the Jordanian man was involved in the theft.

For the same incident, four people have already been convicted. Each of them was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
