Prominent businessman and former minister Michalakis Michaelides had died, his family said on Tuesday. He was 87.
Michaelides was the owner of the MPM Group, a company founded in 1928 initially trading in pharmaceuticals.
It became one of the biggest trading, distribution, and retail company in Cyprus, representing numerous brands.
Michaelides had also served as commerce minister under Spyros Kyprianou between 1985 and 1988, and briefly under Glafkos Clerides from November 1997 until February 1998.
His funeral will be held on Thursday.
