A 23-year-old British tourist is being treated in Famagusta General hospital for head injuries after he was involved in a traffic accident on Saturday night.
According to the police, at about 10.30pm a 71-year-old driver crashed with the moped the tourist was riding on the Protaras-Cape Greco road.
From the impact of the crash, the tourist was thrown about 10m down the road, while his bike ended up 20m away.
The 71-year-old appeared to be trying to turn onto the road from a property along it.
They were both taken to Famagusta general hospital by ambulance.
The bike rider had head wounds but his condition was not described as very serious. The sister of the 71-year-old woman driver was in the car at the time but was not injured.
Alcotests were carried out on the driver and the tourist, the first of which showed a zero reading and the second 76μg instead of the permitted 9. The tourist was not wearing a helmet.
