A fire which broke out in two places in Trachoni, Limassol, burned more than 200 palm trees at a nursery before it could be brought under control shortly before midnight on Thursday.
Firefighters were informed of the fire at 8.58pm which destroyed the palm trees and two hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation.
A second fire about 500 metres from the first burned two thousand square metres of wild vegetation and rubbish.
Three fire trucks belonging to the fire services and one from the British bases were deployed to extinguish the flames.
Firefighters stayed in the area all night to prevent a possible flare-up.
The causes of the fires are not yet known.
