Katerina Stefanidi Wins Bronze Medal in Birmingham Championship

Greek pole vault athlete Katerina Stefanidi won third place at the World Athletics Championship held in Birmingham, jumping 4.80m.

This was the first competition that the Greek Olympic Champion did not win the gold medal after 19 consecutive wins. The last time she did not rank first was in the  championship held in Portland two years ago.

Stefanidi’s bronze medal was the 12th Greek athletes won in the Birmingham competition so far.

Stefanidi jumped 4.70, 4.75 and 4.80m for third place, but failed at 4.85 and 4.90, second and first place respectively.
