
The U.S. official made the comment during a meeting with Greece’s main opposition leader, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The two men also discussed the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia name issue, as well as the continuous Turkish provocations in the Aegean and the destabilizing role of Turkey in the wider region.
The New Democracy president also met with UK Ambassador to Greece, Kate Smith. The two officials discussed, inter alia, the developments regarding Britain’s exit from the EU and the prospects of bilateral co-operation in the post-Brexit era.
Mitsotakis briefed the British Ambassador on his contacts in Munich, pointing out his concern over the increased Turkish provocations in the Aegean and Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone. The issue of FYROM was discussed as well.
