Police pick up 14 irregular migrants up near Astromeritis

Another 14 irregular migrants, among them a 16 year old, were picked up by police in Nicosia early on Wednesday morning, philenews reports.

It said that at around 4 am police had been tipped off about a group of irregular migrants on the Peristerona-Astromeritis road.

Police officers who went to the scene found the 14 and took them to a police station.

Philenews said that as in the case of other irregular migrants found in the area, the 14 are believed to have crossed into the government-controlled areas from the Turkish occupied areas.
