Thanks to the quick intervention of the Forestry Department a fire which was started by lightning at Moni forest near Saittas was extinguished before it spread.
In an announcement, the Forestry Department said the fire broke out at 11.40 am.
Two fire trucks with six fire fighters responded to the fire and were able to bring it under control before it spread.
