Share this:

A 37-year-old Israeli sustained serious injuries early on Saturday after he was hit by a car in Limassol whose driver abandoned the scene.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was treated for internal haemorrhage and fractures to various parts of his body. Reports said he was conscious after the 5.30am incident on Panayiotis Tsangaris Street.

Police said the man had been walking in the middle of the road when he was hit by a car whose driver fled the scene.

A friend who was with the 37-year-old at the time was breathalyzed and found to have consumed alcohol. He told police they were both drinking earlier.

Investigators have determined the make of the car and were scouring through security camera footage in a bid to track down the owner.
