Doctors and nursing staff at Paphos’ accident and emergency unit will stage a work stoppage for two hours today to protest staffing shortages.
They said they will abstain from work for two days every day – at 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm on weekdays and from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm on weekends.
However, safety staff will be on site, a spokesman told CyBC radio.
The medical staff decided to act because of the large increase in the number of cases they have had to handle, while vacancies remain unfilled.
They say that not only are they stretched to the limit, but they face the daily anger of patients forced to wait for hours before a doctor can see them.
The doctors said they have written to the Health Ministry on the issue, but received no reply.
