The cabinet on Wednesday approved 54 new posts for school escorts to help children with special needs following the request by the education ministry.
These posts are in addition to the 60 new escorts recently hired. In total, 974 people are employed as school escorts for the current school year.
The education ministry last week denied claims by parents that several children with special needs have yet to go to school this year due to lack of escorts.
