A 47-year-old foreign woman is in a serious condition in the intensive care unit of Famagusta General hospital after being hit by a car on Saturday.
According to the police, at about 2.30 on Saturday afternoon a 74-year-old man driving along Protaras Avenue towards Paralimni failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing. The women was crossing it at the time and was struck by the car.
The woman was taken by ambulance to the Famagusta hospital where she underwent an examination and a scan which revealed she had sustained injuries to her left leg, arm and pelvis.
Her condition is described as serious but stable.
The 74-year-old driver was given an alcotest but it was negative.
