Three people, aged 51, 45 and 43, have been arrested after a court order was issued against them to help police with inquiries into a fire that broke out at lunchtime on Saturday in the Limassol district.
The fire, which was finally put out at 5.25 on Saturday afternoon, had burnt an area of half a square kilometre of dry plants in addition to some carob and olive trees. It also destroyed a metal building and two parked cars.
During investigations into the cause of the fire, evidence was given against the 51-year-old and the 43-year-old, leading to their arrests. Police are investigating a case of starting a fire through a negligent act against them.
The 45-year-old woman was arrested when it appeared she had given false information to the police.
