Kotzias spoke at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Berlin.
The Greek minister reiterated Monday’s statement that talks on a ministerial level with FYROM foreign minister Nikola Dimitrov have been concluded and that it is now in the hands of the two prime ministers to seal the agreement, after some technical and legal details are ironed out.
“A meeting of experts from Skopje, Athens and the United Nations is taking place in Greece’s foreign ministry in Athens right now, drafting the preparatory texts, legal and technical, and making the latest proposals,” Kotzias said.
The German foreign minister stated that Germany has no involvement in the process of resolving the name of FYROM and said, “At the very point where we were asked, we had a productive, balancing effect on one side or the other.”
Maas said that “Germany’s interest in resolving the ongoing issue is self-evident”. The German minister added that his government wants stability in the Western Balkans region.
